macaroni cheese (serves 4-6)
One of those dishes that is just so yummy, you eat way more than what you should :)
Method:
Fry the bacon, cut into 'bite size' squares and put aside
Fry the onion in the bacon fat and put aside
While the macaroni is cooking; in a separate pot, melt the butter
Once it has melted, add the flour and stir quickly. It will look lumpy, but don't panic
Add the milk, bits at a time and stir constantly
Once the sauce has thickened up, add the nutmeg (secret ingredient!)
Add the bacon and the onion to the sauce
Drain the cooked pasta and put in an oven proof bowl
Add the sauce and mix together
Cut the tomato in slices and place on top
Sprinkle the grated cheese over and place in the oven on grill (with the oven door open)
Keep a close eye and take it out when the cheese has melted and grilled to your liking

* You can use frozen grated cheese on top, it may just take a little longer to grill
* You can layer the tomato in between if you don't only want to have it on top
* Make sure that the oven door is open while it is on grill
