lasagne (serves 4-6)
An absolutely delicious recipe! Takes quite a while but is easy to do
Ingredients: meat sauce
500g lean mince 1 onion, chopped 3 cloves of garlic, chopped finely 1/2 cup grated carrots 1/2 cup chopped celery 2 cans chopped tomatoes 3 Tbsp tomato paste 1/4 cup red wine 1/4 cup water 2 tsp beef stock powder 1 Tbsp sugar dried oregano salt and pepper 1 cup grated cheddar lasagne sheets Ingredients: white sauce 60g margarine 1/4 cup flour 2 cups milk |
Method:
Brown mince and add garlic, onion, celery and carrot
Add remaining ingredients (except for sauce and lasagne sheets)
Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally
While the meat sauce is simmering; in a separate pot, melt the butter
Once it has melted, add the flour and stir quickly. It might look lumpy, but don't panic
Add the milk, bits at a time and stir constantly
In a large oven proof dish, layer meat sauce then lasagne sheets then white sauce and repeat
Top with grated cheese and allow to stand for 15mins
Bake at 180 degrees for 40 - 45mins

* Can add up to 250ml of water during the simmering stage if needed
