Plain sponge cake (makes 2 round cakes, forming 1 cake)
This is a recipe that my mom has used since we were kids - it's originally from the Icing Guild in Zimbabwe, so you know it's going to be good!
Method:
Cream sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy
Sieve together flour and baking powder into the sugar and egg mixture and mix together
Melt margarine and milk together and add to the above mixture and mix
Pour into 2 round cake tins and bake at 180 degrees C (350 degrees F) for 35-40 mins

* Do not cool the melted margarine and milk mixture
* The cake is ready when a thin skewer comes out clean
