I have decided to try my hand at pizza making, having never done it before, not having a pizza oven and my pizza being rectangular in shape (and not quite looking like this picture) it actually turned out great :) I will be posting the recipe soon, so look out for it in the "savoury" section
For the last couple of days, I have been working out the best recipe for the all-time South African favourite - Milk tart. Over the years, we have accumulated a few variations for the recipe and I think I have narrowed it down to what I think is the best base and the best filling :) In the next few days, I should be posting the recipe, so keep a look out on the "baking" page :)
The rain is set to continue in Joburg so I thought I should post a quick, tasty soup recipe to keep all you Joburg folk warm. I have put up Lentil soup, but check out the "soups" page for mushroom, celery and butternut soup - delicious!
I have decided on my first feature! Yuppiechef have started an online baking course called "The art of baking" and I will be testing out their recipes, tips etc and reporting it back on the 'features' page. I'm so excited to get started! :)
It is just so ridiculously hot in Cape Town today! so what better way to spend it than having a braai :) On the menu today is chicken kebabs, steak and boerewors and for the sides: potato salad, waldorf salad, garlic bread and sweet corn fritters. All the sides recipes will be going up on the website :) And then to top it all off, sangria - which I may post the recipe for too :)
Besides the cracking, my meringues were a success! I wrapped them up in some home made paper, made a little tag and before I knew it, it had turned into such a cute, thoughtful little parcel of love :)
Valentines day is tomorrow, but what do you get your boyfriend who doesn't like sweets or chocolates? Well, I'm attempting to make his favourite thing - meringues! I haven't a clue how to make them and I probably should've attempted them before valentines day, but if they turn out well then I will be posting the recipe, hopefully in time for you to make your own batch :)
